We awoke early after our previous night’s anchor watch to ready the boat for sailing to Statia, while Simon cleared us from customs in St Barth’s. It was our first downwind sail of the whole journey, which made for a rip-roaring but rather nerve-racking passage for me at the helm holding our course steady. Fortunately all went well underway and we jibed around the southern side of the island and beat our way up to the anchorage. The afternoon was fairly low-key and the day was sealed with Danimals delicious moroccan chicken and our final oceanography class.
