Sextant work

Nov 11, 2006

Location: Pigeon Island, Guadeloupe
Author: Sarah
After a night of anchor watch we started the day with a ‘Big American Breakfast’ cooked by Simon and Adam. Following breakfast we raised the sails and the anchor and turned our bow towards Guadeloupe and Pigeon Island for the 20 Nm passage. While underway we had a MTE class and learned how to use a Sextant, determine a running fix and work out our boat speed the traditional way. Simon and Adam prepared a delicious lunch feast of various French cheeses and ham. When we arrived we prepared for our Oceanography presentations, with a few people going snorkeling. After dinner everyone gave their presentations and went to bed.
