We hauled the anchor today at 0500 and beat the sun on our way to Soufriere, St. Lucia. After motoring in the lee of St. Vincent we were met with 30kts of breeze off the starboard bow providing a great up winder. Ocean Star heeled over and stretched her legs as we charged through the beautiful blue water of the Caribbean Sea. It always seems like a fiesta aboard the Star and the black bean burritos for lunch certainly lent to the cause. With salt water spray across the deck and Ocean Star alive beneath our feet life seemed to be at its pinnacle. Then, all of the sudden, a right whale appeared just abeam and sealed what would be considered by some a perfect day. With the usual Soufriere escort fleet we picked up a new SuperYacht mooring a stones throw from the Petite Piton, St. Lucia’s most notable landmark and a UNESCO World Heritage site. While I cleared through Customs and Immigration the crew sorted down Ocean Star and then swam in the crystal blue waters. Lots of old friends stopped by and some of the crew bought wood carvings from a local Rastafarian “just trying to make a livin mon.” Tonight we swing beneath the stars in these surreal surroundings, another great day on Ocean Star.
