Setting Sails for Spanish Town

Jun 19, 2009

Location: Spanish Town
Author: Al Savor
O Star’s crew awoke early in Savannah Bay to embark on a morning of diving scenarios with Chris and Kristina. The advanced divers practiced in water rescues and the open water students did a rigorous morning of confined water dives near the beach in Savannah Bay. After lunch the crew experienced their first time raising Ocean Star’s sails as we set sail for the short ride to Spanish Town. On the short ride over the crew got a quick intro to all the lines Ocean Star has to offer, working with them as we jibed a few times on our way to Spanish Town. As Ocean Star neared the anchorage we striked the sails and anchored in Spanish Town, Virgin Gorda. As Kevin cleared customs, the shipmates got an intro to flaking the sails and putting on all the sail covers and tarp to make Ocean Star look pristine again. After dinner we had a chance to explore a little bit of Spanish Town’s night life and got to bed early to prep for our passage to Nevis the next day.
