On Our Way Out of the Med

Oct 21, 2010

Location: Gibraltar
Author: Willie Boesel
This morning we said goodbye to Genevieve and left Malaga at 4:30 am. Casey, Abra and Garrette made a delicious coffee cake and banana bread. As we approached Gibraltar a protruding rock skyrocketed dwarfing the city below. A giant flying saucer shaped cloud sat hovering above the rock. We learned it was a lenticular cloud and was caused by the local geography and a combination of warm and cold air. The sail was short and we had a couple classes to help occupy the voyage. We arrived at Gibraltar mid afternoon, but docked in Spain because it was cheaper and easier. We are looking forward to a great night out and touring the city tomorrow.
