Final Day in Franceland

Feb 7, 2011

Location: Pain de Sucre, Les Saintes, Guadeloupe
Author: Millie Dent
This morning about half the group started off the day a little earlier than usual, waking up at 6:30 to do a wellness hike up a mountain. We thought the hike would only take an hour and wed be back in time for breakfast. Unfortunately we misjudged the time and ended up hiking for two and a half hours. We first hiked up a road to a fort and then we decided to take a trail through the woods back down to the beach. However, we missed the trail and ended up getting lost and had to backtrack up the mountain. The hike was a lot of fun though and everyone was well-energized after it. We returned to the boat where we had a late breakfast. Then everyone got together for a quick Seamanship class. Afterwards we had the rest of the day free to do work, go to the beach, or scuba dive. Shelby even decided to climb back up the mountain with a couple of other people since she had forgotten her sunglasses there earlier in the day. Everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner of fried rice and chicken, with a delicious treat of brownies, after enjoying a relaxing day. Tonight’s the second and final round of night dives and then tomorrow its off to Dominica!
