Leaving in the Dust

Today we had another race. It is called the butterfly race and, as it sounds, is in the shape of a butterfly. Each leg is about 5 miles and the starting and ending are at the same place. It was an awesome racing day, far better than yesterday in every way shape and form. We almost had a perfect start until Zakas came and cut us off so we had to fall off for a bit. We completely and utterly demolished Karios so badly that they couldn’t even see our freshly polished transom gleaming in the sun. We ended up 2 minutes and 30 seconds behind Zakas, who should have had a five-minute penalty at the start for heading over the line early, which would have us in third place. The wind was awesome and we were making 8.5 knots for a while cruising past smaller boats. Everyone was having a blast and it really felt like we were in a yacht race. It was incredible to see the racing yachts cruising and tacking around the buoys, even though their boats are all electric winches and Argo is manual where we are the hydraulics.
