Our Last Port of Call

Apr 17, 2013

Location: Papeete, Tahiti, French Polynesia
Author: Kristine Faloon
It’s been a lovely day on Argo, as the crew tries to squeeze every last bit of fun they can out the few days they have left onboard. We woke up to a delicious English breakfast to the tantalizing smell of bacon wafting through the air. After a quick passage prep we bid adieu to Moorea and braved the treacherous 12 miles across to Papeete, Tahiti, our last port of call. As we entered the channel to the marina, we got a sweet view of some surfers, kayakers and paddle boarders riding the breaking waves. We secured our spot at the marina and broke out the passerrail for the first time on the trip (it’s basically a long ramp that leads from the stern of the boat to the dock). Civilization! After putting the boat away, a quick deck wash and connecting ourselves to shore power and water- the crew wandered ashore, found a McDonalds and spoiled their dinners. Not to worry there’s always room for birthday cake- Happy Birthday Maeve!!! : )
