Happy Halloween!

Oct 31, 2013

Location: Gili Islands, Indonesia
Author: Hans Steenstrup
Today was our second day onshore at the Gili Islands, so like yesterday we split the shipmates into two groups. The first group went onshore for the day, and the second went on two amazing dives around the islands. Time on shore was spent getting internet for research projects, relaxing on the beach, and getting some ice cold drinks. The second group spent the day diving with massive schools of fish, sea turtles, and other awe inspiring forms of aquatic life. Everybody was back on the boat by 5pm, and we started prepping for our next passage to Kumai. After dinner we had Halloween festivities including a Halloween costume contest. We had to be creative with costumes since were pretty much just used clothes and things we had onboard some costumes included shark attack victims, a Spartan, a pretty good imitation of Captain Sam, a walrus, some birds, and the staff as the Planateers. We then left the Gili islands and made way towards the next chapter in our journey the Kumai River in Borneo, Indonesia. P.S. Shout-out to everyone at the Summit who is following the blog
