Happy Birthday, King of Thailand!

While the official results of today’s race have yet to be posted at the time I’m writing this, it is safe to say that we did not finish (DNF). I personally expect that the Race Committee had high hopes for the wind, but it was not meant to be. The wind was slow for most of the day, although we did enjoy a strong breeze was when we were on a long tack further out to sea. Thus, after 6+ hours of sailing, the race was called at 5:00 and we motored over to our anchorage. In spite of Mother Natures wishes, the crew of Argo had a spectacular day on the water. We began with a salute to the King, which took place during a parade of all the boats participating in the regatta. All of us lined up on the port side of the boat and bowed to a couple of navy ships as we sailed past them. Today was the Kings birthday, and that is quite a special time for the Thai people. We showed our respect and then were on our way to the start line. Now that were back at anchor for the night, were going to have a marine bio review and the five of us in the professional skipper course are going to close the day with an exam on meteorology! Were all crossing our fingers for a day of big wind and an even bigger comeback tomorrow. One week from tomorrow and this trip will be officially over…whoa.
