Selamat Tidur Jakarta

The past 24 hours on Argo has been an adventure to say the least. Going from watch team to watch team while sailing Argo through the Sunda Straight at night, successfully avoiding cargo boats, fishing boats, ferries and random little islands to an all-day BA while being docked offshore of Jakarta, as our captain had an all day adventure of his own [thank you Kris!] that comprised solely of clearing us into Indonesia. Then to top it all off we had an amazing full four course Thanksgiving dinner in March – head chef Carolyn and sous chef Anna cooked 10 (small) whole chickens, sweet potato casserole, garlic mashed potatoes, stuffing and green beans. Bread-maker Mandy, made some delicious rolls and Annie chipped in with an amazing pumpkin bread with pumpkin cream cheese frosting. The past 24 hours have been a little crazy and very tiring, but worth it, as we are so excited to be heading toward the island of Borneo to see the orangutans! Honestly I am pretty ecstatic to be in Indonesia and so is the whole crew in Argo. The feeling of seeing land again after 15 days out at sea and knowing that those days were worth every minute because you are finally here, is one that words really can not do justice. It is an accomplish sailing across the Indian Ocean, one that I am really happy I had the opportunity to do and would not change for the world. There is not more to say expect “terima kasih” Argo and everyone aboard ship for getting us here safely and for making the journey across the Indian Ocean what it was, simply unforgettable.
