Whose Bay Is It? RICKY BAKER'S BAY
Location: Richard's Bay, South Africa
Good morning, America!
We arrived in Africa this morning after 10 days at sea!!!!
This passage was filled with great times and excitement about everyday passage life. We saw so many dolphins on this passage!!! But sadly, no orcas yet. My watch team is now obsessed with Outer Banks. We have been trying to watch it every day since young Ali downloaded the new season! And omg it’s amazing!! We are so hooked that last night, after our 8 pm to 12 am watch, we watched half an hour of an episode! Are we crazy? Who cares! We assigned roles to each member of our watch team. All agreed that Philip would act as the best Pope, young Ali would act as the best Sarah, old Ali would act as the best Keira, Will would act as the best Topper, Ainsley would act as the best Sofia, and l would act as the best John B apparently lol. My favorite lines so far from the show are “Isn’t life just the best at the beach?” or “If you don’t do a safety stop, you will get the Bangs and die,” or “Quick, pass me your BCP!” Reminiscing about our diving days, we all found it hilarious how the actors were using all the diving lingo/made-up lingo and how exaggerated it was! Oh, also, last night, old Ali made popcorn, and young Ali and l were scared since now we have a fear of popcorn since we set off the fire alarm in the middle of the night! Don’t worry we took the real hit, even though everyone woke up from the alarm, the amount of oil we consumed was almost godly. Holy, we poured soooo much oil into the popcorn bowl to make it, and when we were taking fist fulls of popcorn, we actually were consuming fist fulls of oil. Yummy.
Continuing on today, we docked the boat with the help of a few locals, who gave old Ali an awkward side hug that l witnessed and was confused about. Then we had a Boat to Bed and lunch. Today is World Fisheries Day, and Ben gave his fisheries presentation, which was very interesting, although sad. We learned that 90% of the population of whales and dolphins has disappeared due to excessive fisheries. With every meal of fish you consume, there are thousands of dolphins dying for your own pleasure. After class, we had some free time before dinner, so after being cleared into the country, most of us decided to go get some ice cream on land!
Being on land felt good, l ran immediately once l stepped off the boat, it felt like l was a bird! Once we got to the ice cream shop, there were very interesting flavors, such as Rocky Avenue, Tennis Biscuit, and Buffy! On the other side of the street where we were waiting, there were a bunch of wild monkeys roaming around the area, and they were so cute!!! Then we headed back to Argo, our SheWolf, for some dinner cooked up by Will. Rice and chicken, classic. Meanwhile, the sky was putting on an amazing show, the clouds were crazy and the sunset was beautiful, if you didn’t know anything about weather you would think that the world is ending.
For my squeeze question l asked what would you buy the person to your left as a gift if you had unlimited amount of money. My favorite answer was Tomer’s, explaining how money doesn’t buy happiness.
Sadly there’s no Outer Banks and Pogues tonight, only Navmaster, locking in for the exam tomorrow! Everyone please send your prayers, apparently more than half of the people normally fail!
Tomorrow is Hannah’s 20th birthday!!!!! So crazy!!!! Get hypeddddd!
