Today was our first full day underway. We had some crazy cool shooting stars throughout the night, and when it was time for watch team 3 to be on deck we were delighted to see watch team 2 was just finishing setting the sails for wing on wing. They really walked so we could fly :’). Then we got in some more sail handling by doing the first jibe of the session. Watch team 3 (Wednesday, Liam, Rob, Gabby, Chelsea, Del, Sienna) all killed it. They did a great job maintaining course as they rotated through the helm and earned a compliment from Captain Calum. Fishing lines were put out throughout the morning, but unfortunately for us, the fish were too good. We had a close call where something large came up to the line, and Will saw a dorsal fin breach, but nothing stuck. In the afternoon, students had Oceanography and Seamanship. In seamanship, they were tested on their safety knowledge and skills. After classes, we had dinner and headed into another cloudless night, perfect for stargazing and shooting star sightings.
