Today started out bright and early with a 0500 wake-up. We dinghied to shore in two trips to hike up this hill for a view of the sunrise. We were told it was an easy walk up and the hike should take about 10 minutes to get to the viewpoint. We all arrived at shore, eager to get on the path. Initially, we went right and started scrambling up this hill in the light of the early morning. About two minutes into the scramble the wisdom of Meg kicked in and insisted that this was not the easy walkable path that we should be on. Then, on the way back down from the scramble, there is a sign that says, "Danger Do NOT ENTER". Once we got on the smooth concrete path, the rest of the morning went smoothly. We got back to the boat just before breakfast, and there were freshly made bagels prepared by Allie. After clean up, we loaded up the dinghy and headed to town for a day on shore. The second boat which consisted of Tom, Kip, Kaden, Benno, Allie, Jake, Frida, Freddie, and I got swamped during our mile long trip to the dock. Showed up wet and stunk, but it didn't hinder the day. We strolled through town, finding a few restaurants to eat at, get ice cream, and hang out at the beach. Once four o'clock came around, everyone was brought back to Vela. Most people, including myself, were wiped and napped while Allie and Jake prepared kebabs for dinner. Dinner finished with the squeeze question, "If you had a billboard with a cut out of you on it, What would the ad be?". Now, we are all cleaning up and preparing for our seamanship class.
