Underway at Last
Location: Savannah Bay, Virgin Gorda
Today dawned early for the 16 shipmates and four staff members aboard Ocean Star as we all woke up for a 6:30 AM swim test. After a delicious pancake breakfast, we sat down and chatted about our expectations and policies for the summer and general life aboard. Shortly after that, we cast off our dock lines and headed up the Drake Channel towards Savannah Bay at the other end of the BVI. I was very impressed with how well everyone worked together today, from getting off the dock to hoisting sails. Everyone was extremely enthusiastic and eager to learn, and most importantly, they kept their spirits up, even at the end of a long day of sun, wind, and sailing.
