Location: Gorda Sound
This morning started with an oceanography class where students were shown the scientific equipment we have onboard and were assigned their oceanography papers. Following this, we went to the Statia reef and snorkeled around the barrier reef while observing and identifying organisms. Then, we went to the sheltered side of Virgin Gorda to snorkel in a mangrove, where we saw countless juvenile fish, including small barracudas, as well as large tarpons. Back onboard Ocean Star, the students took their final Open Water Diver exams and had several hours in the afternoon to windsurf, go to the beach, or relax. We are ending the evening with a Nautical Science documentary. All are excited for our first sail tomorrow!
