Hey readers,
This is your favourite crew member, Philip reporting for duty. Today was our last full day in Indonesia, which is a bit bittersweet, but this only means that bigger things on the horizon are soon approaching. This morning, we had Kackies smoothie bowls while people said that my wakeups were too quiet and polite. Next time, I will wake them up by barking. Anyways, after brekkie, I was assigned as Clipboard Philip and in charge of overseeing our passage prep (Clipboard Gabe will be remembered). Despite my relative lack of experience, I think passage prep went pretty smoothly!

Around this time, those in the galley started asking if anybody had moved the glue trap with kitchen from the bilges. No one said it was them so were now assuming the worst and its possible that theres a protein-fed bilge rat living aboard with us. Weve named it Clayson. Were not sure whether or not Clayson is still stuck in the glue trap and taking it with them or if theyre free, but both options send shudders down our spines. Weve moved the grocery bags out of the bilges, which sparked a conversation on how many rat poop parts per million (ppm) we were willing to accept as part of our boat. I said 2 ppm while Bodhi said 100,000ppm.

After lunch, we had our seamanship class where we learned about different norths and accounting for variation and deviation. After that we had oceanography class where we did our first quiz, and started our unit on chemistry. After classes, me, Charlie, Amanda M, Juliette, and Ainsley shared a delicious starfruit together. We had a bit of chill time where we worked on our upcoming assignments and before you knew it, we were eating our last meal in Indonesia. My squeeze question for today was: If you could chuck someone back into the Early Cretaceous and watch them, who would it be and why? Gabe said he would choose a dinosaur-loving child while others said various celebrities like Adam Sandler.

Its been a great 20 days in Indonesia, but all good things come to an end, which is what makes them good in the first place. We start our passage to Christmas Island tomorrow, I hope the seas are calm so I dont get too seasick. See yall next time Im skipper! Warm wishes to those in Taiwan, San Diego, and Texas!
