Location: Roseau, Dominica

After an early wake up this morning, we headed out on a magnificent hike to the boiling lake. The hike was “quite strenuous, and wind up and down through the rainforest, over the top of the peak, across spring rivers and finally towards the geothermal boiling lake. Along the way, we stopped too hard boil eggs in the hot springs and enjoyed mud face masks lead by our wonderful tour guides. They also pointed out places where the spring water ran clear and was delicious to drink. Later where the cooler rainwater mixed with the hot water spring, we hopped into the stream as though it were a hot tub (with maybe just an extra bit of sulfur). Overlooking the captivating boiling lake, we took time to enjoy lunch as well as the view before we trekked back to the beginning. To finish off our time onshore, we splashed into the cold gorge to cool off and relax. Some adrenaline-inducing activities, such as jumping from waterfalls, also occurred. With the wonderful feeling of having spent a day in nature literally climbing mountains, we came back home to Ocean Star to enjoy yet another evening. With the steam covering the tops of the lush green mountains and freshwater trickling down everywhere, the island of Dominica is paradise.
