Location: Rodney Bay, St. Lucia
Sunrise wake-ups are the best wake-ups. I woke up a little after 6 am to a sunrise which always puts a smile on my face.
Good morning everyone! We are back again for another daily update. I woke up the crew at 7 am to a lovely view of Rodney Bay Marina, where we are docked. Breakfast was a delicious lemon pound cake made by head chef Marls and her sous chefs: Jaden and Cleo. We then ran right into doing a much-needed boat appreciation (BA). A group deep cleaned the galley, salon, deck, and bunk areas which took all morning. Before lunch, we said a sad goodbye to our lovely captain Smash. Lunch was pasta salad, and we just missed being poured on by rain! There are many spontaneous rain showers here in St. Lucia. After lunch, we had a little bit of time to go onshore. Everyone either dropped off their laundry at the laundry mat to have fresh, clean clothes, got ice cream, or relaxed. One group then worked on plotting estimated positions and courses to steer on the charts in the navigation master class. While the other reviewed the EFR (emergency first responder) knowledge reviews then took the primary and secondary care exam for certification. We had a couple of hours to relax and go on shore again. Many people used this time to take a freshwater shower in the marina facilities or buy snacks from the market! Marls and Amelia then came back with the provisions! We had a delicious Christmas bake for dinner with a sunset view. The squeeze question for today was, “what was your favorite childhood cuddle object (i.e., stuffed animal)? Sam told us the schedule for the rest of the trip, which is packed with fun hikes, sails, and dives to look forward to! Cleanup was quick after dinner, and we had to organize all our new food! After, we rolled into an oceanography research project workshop. After a long day of cleaning and working, we were all super excited to go get ice cream on shore!
Bye, sea worms,
Teagan
