Location: Gorda Sound

A lot happened today on Ocean Star. Most of us finished our qualifying dives for our open water PADI certification. We started off the day with a nice meal of oatmeal, cereal, and fruit before immediately hopping in the water to continue our diving. On the dive, we saw a lot of tarpon, a trumpet fish, and some of us even saw an eagle ray. We learned to use tools such as our compass and practiced our breath holding abilities during the CESA protocol certification. After diving, lunch was mac and cheese and fruit (again, we eat a lot of fruit). Once we finished lunch and scuba, we went underway on a short trip to Gorda Sound. When we arrived at Gorda, we dropped anchor and had veggie burgers cooked by the one and only Ignacio. We had the chance to experience our first sign-out night and visit the island hotel, Saba Rock. We made our way to the island on the RIBs. On the way to the island, we could see the Bitter End Yacht Club here in Gorda Sound. The bar was lively and fun. Everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly. There were hammocks, a beach area, corn hole, a pool, and a bar. At 10 pm, we returned to Ocean Star and hoisted the dinghies. That wrapped up our night with another fantastic day in the BVI.

We are looking forward to our 19-hour sail tomorrow to St. Barts. (Too much fun today to take photos but loads to come tomorrow; sorry parents, it’s just been one helluva hullabaloo!)
