Location: Papeete, Tahiti, French Polynesia
Today, we had a free day, which allowed us to relax and explore the island of Tahiti. Some sat back and did laundry, relaxing on Argo and indulging in a good book. Others traveled to downtown Papeete, the shopping center of Tahiti, and visited the local market. After having lunch and exploring, we took the bus back to Argo, which drove past the airport. For me, it was a reminder of how little time we have left and how important it is to take advantage of every last moment. After dinner, we all met in the saloon to watch a presentation, which recapped all our travels over the course of our semester. Looking back on our past selves made all of us laugh, and some of us cry. After watching the wonderful video created by Ms. Katie Leake, we all sat down to write our note cards to each other, staying up till the wee hours of the morning in order to complete them. Argo, it has been an amazing 87 days for me. I’m so grateful for the experiences you have given me and all that you have taught me. Thank you for getting me to my destination safely on the most enjoyable journey I have ever taken. For the last time, this is skipper Patino signing out. Farewell, I wish that all your voyages were just as amazing as SOM 13.
