Day 32. It’s starting to get weird; wild taxi drivers, yam growers, and mustaches. We all took off this morning at 7:30 to go hike a volcano. Yup, a treacherous beast that spews lava from its mouth onto unsuspecting victims below. Actually, it was quite dormant and very rain-foresty. Our drivers, nicknamed King Kong and Bricks, took us to the base of the dormant beast so we could embark on our mission to conquer the monster. With a water bottle in hand, earbuds in ears, and shoes on my feet, I was off on my adventure. It took me an hour and a half to climb to the peak, and when the other Knights of Ocean Star reached me, I was hunkered down between a rock and a bush shielding myself from the strong wind and clouds skimming across the ground. The climb down was a long one, filled with many rocks. When I reached base camp with my trusty sidekicks, Boots, and Sam, we spent the next hour wrangling small lizards and reminiscing about week 1. The drive back to Ocean Star was filled with many strange things, which included a yam grower, many stops at the sites along the way, and odd stories from the cabbies. Back on Ocean Star, everyone was exhausted and lying about. Once we heard the sailing yacht on the mooring next to us playing “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry, our slumber of exhaustion ended with us breaking out into numerous dances, two of which included “Jump On It” and “Cha Cha Slide.” Obviously, we won that dance competition. What a day, and we’re all looking forward to Jack’s SLD class tonight!
