Today was the 3rd Thursday of November, therefore, Thanksgiving. I never celebrated Thanksgiving before due to the fact that I am not American. Today, I learned about the American tradition of Thanksgiving. It was a beautiful, wonderful day. When we woke up, the sun was already high up in the sky. The air was warm, and we were already all excited for tonight’s Thanksgiving dinner. At lunch, we had delicious chicken noodle soup. Right after that, we took deck showers. Even though it’s November, here it’s very hot. Those showers felt amazing. We tanned for a while, chatting with our friends about how tonight’s food was going to be delicious. Later in the day, we had SLD skit presentations. Each watch team had to prepare a skit to present to the rest of the crew. The best watch team would win a prize. Watch team 3 won. We made our own version of the “12 Days of Christmas” song:
12 days of Crossing
On the first day of crossing, my skipper gave to me, A wild night with watch team three,
On the second day of crossing, my skipper gave to me, Two chocolate bars, And a wild night with watch team three,
On the third day of crossing,g my skipper gave to me, Three shooting stars, Two chocolate bars, And a wild night with watch team three,
On the fourth day of crossing, my skipper gave to me, Four hours of watch, Three shooting stars, Two chocolate bars, And a wild night with watch team three,
On the fifth day of crossing, my skipper gave to me, Five of Holden’s rings, Four hours of watch, Three shooting stars, Two chocolate bars, And a wild night with watch team three. On the sixth day of crossing,g my skipper gave to me; Six sails are luffing, Five of Holden’s rings, Four hours of watch, Three shooting stars, Two chocolate bars, And a wild night with watch team three,
On the seventh day of crossing, my skipper gave to me, Seven countries conquered, Six sails are luffing, Five of Holden’s rings, Four hours of watch, Three shooting stars, Two chocolate bars, And a wild night with watch team three,
On the eighth day of crossing,g my skipper gave to me, Eight couples cuddling, Seven countries conquered, Six sails are luffing, Five of Holden’s rings, Four hours of watch, Three shooting stars, Two chocolate bars, And a wild night with watch team three,
On the ninth day of crossing, my skipper gave to me, Nine glowing dolphins, Eight couples cuddling, Seven countries conquered, Six sails are luffing, Five of Holden’s rings, Four hours of watch, Three shooting stars, Two chocolate bars, And a wild night with watch team three,
On the tenth day of crossing, my skipper gave to me, Ten people puking, Nine glowing dolphins, Eight couples cuddling, Seven countries conquered, Six sails are luffing, Five of Holden’s rings, Four hours of watch, Three shooting stars, Two chocolate bars, And a wild night with watch team three,
On the eleventh day of crossing, my skipper gave to me, SCIENCE! Ten people puking, Nine glowing dolphins, Eight couples cuddling, Seven countries conquered, Six sails are luffing, Five of Holden’s rings, Four hours of watch, Three shooting stars, Two chocolate bars, And a wild night with watch team three,
On the twelfth day of crossing, my skipper gave to me, Twelve nasty staches, SCIENCE! Ten people puking, Nine glowing dolphins, Eight couples cuddling, Seven countries conquered, Six sails are luffing, Five of Holden’s rings, Four hours of watch, Three shooting stars, Two chocolate bars, And a wild night with watch team three!
Thanksgiving was amazing. The food was delicious. The desserts were; they were just YUMMY! At the end of the day, we were so full; we couldn’t even stand up. It was very funny to watch every crew member on deck lying down, trying to digest all this food. I’m pretty sure I gained 10 kg from tonight’s Thanksgiving dinner. I’m planning on going back to Switzerland, and celebrate this holiday every year with my family. I hope everyone reading this post is having a great Thanksgiving. I miss you all back home. I wish I could give a huge big hug to my dear Panjom! Happy Thanksgiving! Love Aliki
