Location: Falmouth Harbour, Antigua

Skipper’s Blog Day 2:

Today, we moved anchor from Nelson’s Dockyard to Falmouth in preparation for our voyage to Dominica. In the morning, we went ashore to visit a museum and learn about Antigua’s history and geology. It was fascinating to explore the island and to be among our fellow travelers. We then spent our first full day aboard the Argo, learning the ship’s policies, how to work her ropes, and how to conduct a successful night of anchor watch. We also ended the day with a saltwater bath- a.k .a. a jump in the ocean with soap and shampoo. Tonight, our crew will conduct their first night of watch: groups of two students will go up to the deck and keep an eye out for foul weather and other impending disasters. While we sleep below in Argo, they will be our eyes on the ocean. Tomorrow, we set sail!
