Location: Underway to Gibraltar
Today was our final day in Cartagena, and as a nice little sendoff present, we awoke to find sand blown all over our deck from a far-off desert storm. The sand blew in from the desert and left a thick orange layer for our deckies to scrub off after breakfast. Following a thorough deckie session, a PSCT class, and some last-minute shore time, we pushed off the dock and began our journey to Gibraltar, leaving our last official stop in the EU! As soon as we left the port, though, we were met by (what I considered) huge rolling waves, repeatedly dunking the bowsprit into the water as we tried to raise the main staysail and the forward staysail. The waves calmed down after a little bit, though, and our journey now continues into the night, with watch teams currently braving the wind and rain as we make our way to Gibraltar.
