Location: Underway to the Marquesas
For the past few days, we have been making our way to a waypoint labeled “Middle of Nowhere.” Today we reached that point, not only does the coordinate represent the halfway point for the great Pacific crossing, but it always represents the furthest place from land anyone on this globe can be: 1500nm from the Galapagos Islands and the Marquesas Islands. As we continue to sail at seven knots, it seems like this passage is going by way to fast. Watch teams continue around the clock, enjoying each other’s company, telling funny stories, debating bizarre topics, playing games and just having fun with the people around them. Underway life is amazing, a highlight for all when they get home and begin sharing stories about their life on Argo. There are very few times in one’s life that a cell phone is not found in your back pocket, that facebook isn’t checked on a daily basis, in the middle of the ocean though, life is simple. Life is about amazing stars and amazing conversations. About waking up each day to a great bowl of cereal and a peaceful ocean. Life at sea is a time for learning how the simple things in life bring the biggest smiles to our faces.
