Location: St. Pierre, Martinique
After a b-fast of Fruit Loops and yogurt, we dinghied to shore and took a taxi ride to the base of Mt. Pele. We all climbed to the summit, where a few turned back, but most continued. After everyone descended the mountain, we hung out at a cafe and had coffee and ice cream. We then taxied back to town, where a few stayed for some shore time, unsuccessfully trying to call the states. A few minutes before returning back to Ocean Star, the carnival parade went through town. Everyone was dressed up and crazy – it was like Mardi Gras in the Caribbean. We returned to Ocean Star and ate pancakes, as it was pancake day, with lemon and sugar, courtesy of Beaker. We got the boat ready to sail tomorrow and then enjoyed a rainy dinner of Moroccan chicken.
