Its a lot easier to wake up at 6:15 am for a beautiful hike than it was to wake up at that time in high school. After having a quick breakfast and packing our lunches, we piled into the dinghy to go to the dock, where our taxi was scheduled to pick us up at 8:00 am, but instead, it didnt show up until around 9:00 am. When we finally got to the base of the hike, we bought snacks, drinks, and souvenirs from a local woman. The start of the hike was absolutely beautiful. The weather was just right for a hike that is estimated to take around 8 hours ish and at the entrance has a sign that says, dont start this hike after 10:00 am, and we started at 9:50 am. About two hours into the hike, we made it to a lookout point where we could see all of the surrounding mountains and the rainforest that covers them. As we were leaving the lookout, the weather started to shift, and the lovely hike we had all been enjoying was now in a torrential downpour. The weather continued to be pouring rain and overcast for the rest of the hike. After we made it to the boiling lake, we got to spend some time in a hot spring before our guide told us we needed to get out since the weather had shifted and the river was starting to strengthen. After the hike, we got to have dinner at a restaurant which is always a treat for us. The dinner was very good, and so was the dessert. Once we were back on board, most of us immediately went to bed so we could be well rested to get up early again the next day for our tour of the island.
