Location: Mayreau, Grenadines
Today was a great day, got a ton of sunshine, a nice cool breeze, and lots of laughter. After we had a filling French toast breakfast, we got underway to Mayreau. While we were underway, we had marine biology class down below, and by the time we finished up class (an hour and a half or so), we were anchoring. After we put on sail covers and put up the sunshade, which has not been up since day two or three, we had burritos for lunch. After lunch, we had our leadership course on deck under the sunshade. Seamanship then immediately followed leadership. We started to learn Nav Master a few days back, and we have been working on how to plot position using three bearing fixes, dead reckoning. Today we were practicing how to determine the estimated time of arrival (ETA) based on a ship course, speed, and time we were given. It is really fun getting to work on charts with good friends. There are always good laughs. After seamanship, we had some time to work on projects, homework, study, or go for a snorkel near the boat. We had a delicious dinner this evening, chicken parm, on the deck watching yet another beautiful Caribbean sunset. Tomorrow we will go onto Mayreau for the first time, and I can’t wait to see what treasures this little island holds. Until next time, Kyle
