Location: Tioman, Malaysia
Today we found ourselves hiking through the rainforest of Tioman from the main village of Tektek to the smaller beachfront getaway of Juara. The hike took around 2 1/2 hours, taking us up and then back down a small mountain through the rainforest, but was well worth it. Once you reached the small juncture that leads into Juara, the sandy sea breeze just pulled you in for a nice day of swimming in the clear blue, surfing (or trying to at least catch a wave), biking from one end of town to the other, or just sipping a banana milkshake at the “Beach Shack” catching up on some emails and soaking up the sun. After the hustle and bustle of Singapore, I think everyone was excited to have a chilled-out beach day with little to do but enjoy the much need relaxation that Juara offered. Tioman is by far one of the most exquisite islands we have been to so far. With its perfect mix of sandy beaches, clear blue seas, beachfront fruit stands, streams filled with water monitors, and mountains engulfed by rain forests, Tioman has been a favorite on everyone’s travel list and a must to visit again.
