Today everyone woke up to the lovely smell of Emma’s delicious coffee cake this fine morning. After cleanup, we all gathered into the salon for oceanography, where we learned about fisheries. Shortly after our lecture, we were told to grab our bathing suits, masks, snorkels, and fins; we were surprised with the chance to go snorkeling on a nearby island with lots of marine life such as turtles, sea urchins, sea stars, different kinds of fish and much more! We were shuttled over by Lily, and right away, we saw more sea stars than one could count and a sea turtle munching on some seagrass. It was so amazing that directly below us was the whole different world to explore. There was also a little hiking trail that we explored, and up there, we saw the other side of this little island with some tortoises, iguanas, and the most vibrant blue water.
After spending about two hours or so at the little paradise, we headed back to Argo for leadership class, where we discussed our values and answered some eye-opening questions inspired by a short story read in class. After class, we had marine biology, where we talked about marine reptiles and birds with Mimi. This followed by a quick swim and then dinner, which consisted of buffalo chicken wings with celery and carrots to dip courtesy of Emma and her sous chefs Smash and Elle. After watching the most beautiful sunset, we finished our evening with an impromptu dance party in the salon.
To the MacNeil Fam jam, miss you all a bunch and can’t wait to see you all in a month or so! xoxo Kate
