After months of daydreaming and 48 hours of continuous flying, it sure feels great to finally be here at our new home. At first sight, Vela looked massive; Until all of us got on board, it looked like a hurricane had just flown through the interior of the ship—fins, masks, and bags covered every table and every bunk. Throughout the afternoon, we all moved in and squared away the mess we had just made.
Once we had all settled in, we spent the remaining hours of the day playing card games, chatting to the locals, and grabbing some good grub. As dinner snuck up on us, we learnt about the various roles on the job wheel and ended our evening with Pesto Pasta and a pleasant squeeze. I apologize for the lack of excitement in our first episode of "Vela's Diary", but we are all exhausted from the travelling.
