Sail Training Day Take 2
Location: Cape Town
It’s started as any normal does with Thneedville from the motion picture the Lorax, swiftly followed by turn my swag on by Soulja boi. Once the students arose from their respective slumbers a hearty breakfast of blueberry muffins and yoghurt was feasted upon. This was succeeded by a mini-passage prep to ready ourselves for the festivities of the day ahead. Students were them broken into groups to learn about the operation and safe use of pinrails, cleats, bits and bollards. There was plenty of making off, frasketing, and coiling to be done. Continuing on the day a lunch was had that contained a salad named after the Roman king Caesar. We then left our dock that has been our home for 2 months to undertake the sail training day (today’s main act). The students learned to raise and strike sails, how to successfully and properly complete boat checks, and the correct line handling techniques. We made haste back into port to our new home 300m away! We then divulged ourselves on a dinner of honey mustard chicken, with potatoes. The day ended with the opportunity to collect and store snacks like squirrels preparing for the long winter ahead (the Atlantic crossing). Goodnight and farewell readers, until we meet again.
