From new to new (Christmas to Cocos)

Location: Underway to Cocos Keeling

Today began with a few wake-up songs from the renowned “Weird Al” Yankovic, which bewildered many of us so early in the morning. However, as we stumbled out of bed, we discovered ourselves in the vast ocean, far from land. Despite the confusion, we couldn’t resist the temptation of lunch, so we bid farewell to our confusion and filled our bellies for the day ahead. However, as we settled down after lunch, we were reminded of the eagerly anticipated test we had been preparing for in seamanship class. Before the test, we were informed that our marine biology professor would share insights about the upcoming essay in that class. Afterward, we would have a lecture on oceanography. This news was received differently by all the students, but everyone now knows that classes were about to intensify in the coming weeks, and we will have a lot of work ahead of us.

The test was completed, and we gave it our all, regardless of the outcome. Whether we performed well or not is a matter for the future to decide, and we shouldn’t dwell on it now. However, with the test behind us, we must now focus on oceanography. At least it was a normal lecture instead of a test, with every class behind us, it was almost time for dinner and sleep. As night descended upon us, night watches were established. Those off duty either engaged in study or slumbered, preparing themselves for tomorrow’s next adventure.
