Location: Galleon Beach, Antigua
Who knew life on a sailboat could be so fun and challenging all at the same time? Today Id say was full of challenges. Not just for myself personally, but the entire crew. We left the dock today to move across the bay to the beach for some great places to dive, and for those working on getting their certification. As we reached the new location, we dropped our three anchors (port, starboard, and stern). The wind was very powerful on this side of the bay. It seemed like all was well for the untrained eye. Thankfully, Captain Gabe is our trained eye, and Perry dived to get another eye on the anchors from down below. The anchors were slipping. The whole crew came together to re-anchor those that were slipping. This happened a few times, but it was great seeing everyone come together and use the skills we have learned aboard over the past couple of days. After all was situated, those who were working on their diving certification headed out to learn the steps to becoming a great and safe diver. One thing that is very important about diving is making sure you equalize. I personally had trouble equalizing because of my sinuses. Its very important to recognize that you are uncomfortable because of sickness or sinus problems, because it can be a big issue if not taken seriously. I hope to try again tomorrow for a better turnout. The overall time I spent diving was really cool. Seeing all the bright colored fish, crabs, and coral. When I headed back from my dive, I read a great book, enjoying the beautiful weather on top of the bobstay. As it became night, we had a delicious dinner, then talked about our favorite destinations and the best part of our day. Overall, a great day on Ocean Star and a beautiful scene in Antigua.
