Hello, parents and fellow readers. My name is Ridge, and today was my first day in the job of being the skipper. First off, in the morning, we started off with a breakfast of yogurt, granola, cereal, and some leftovers. I had some off-brand Froot Loops, then a bowl of oat granola and honey vanilla. After breakfast, we cleaned up like normal, then we had some time to chill before we headed to the 250th celebration parade through North Boston. Our transportation to the parade was the local school buses, which we filled up with both our crew and another crew speaking some version of Spanish, we think. Also, it was Henrys(from England) first time on a school bus ever. When we got to the parade start, we received some instructions, and we were placed near the front of the parade and walked 1.5 miles, waving to all the people who were there to watch us. It was extremely hot, and we still had to tour a couple of the larger tall ships when the heat peaked at 85 degrees, but it ended up being really cool. The biggest one we went on was 378 and 11, which was crazy. By the end of the tours, everyone was really hot and depleted, so we decided as a group to go to Shake Shack, which was the perfect place for a food tasting for the occasion. Then we had quite the challenge ahead of us, as we had to walk an hour because we didnt have the buses for the ride back. When we got back to the boat, Finn, Jaime, and the main cooks had tortilla soup waiting for us with sides of chips and tortillas, which was really good.
In conclusion, the parade was a really cool experience, and I am grateful for all the people who came out to watch us. I am proud of the whole group for walking 9 miles and getting a crazy 19,948 steps today. We are excited to see what will come of tomorrow.
