Location: Fam, Raja Ampat

Today, staff and a few other students woke up at first light to raise the sails. We were sailing to our next location, an island called Fam! As I awoke so easily from my slumber (Isaac had to wake me up 5 times), I eagerly woke up the rest of the boat for breakfast. Max was our head chef today, starting the day with yogurt and granola as we were going an average of 9 knots! After breakfast, we had 40B downstairs doing Navmaster and 80 dayers doing Marine Bio on deck, with Jen. Those who were on deck would get the occasional splash of seaspray, which kept us on our toes throughout the class. We then all got called on deck as we were arriving a lot earlier than we expected (we were FLYING). As everyone got put to their positions, Andrew and I were in charge of taking down the jib and flaking it.

Seeing us approach our destination, we all got excited for the diving and activities that were approaching. After anchoring, we had Maxs special grilled cheese with Fiona and Cornelia being great sous chefs. As soon as lunch and cleanup were finished, those who werent doing rescue (Rhi, Faith, Skye, Harrison, Isaac, Sophie, Clam, Max, Sammy and I) quickly set up our diving kits and got to go on a fun dive with Charlie. Our dive was quite interesting as we were pretty close to the surface, but we saw lots of cool coral. Clam and I were dive partners and saw an eagle ray fly by us and also saw a turtle relaxing in the reef. When heading back to the boat, a few of us saw an eagle ray leap out of the water and splash back down. We all were screaming with excitement, but those who were back on the boat who could hear us were quite confused. Everyone else was working hard with rescue skills and learning how to become rescue diver certified! As rescue finished, most of the boat showered and lay out on the chart house sleeping, relaxing, and talking after a great day in Fam. We ended the day with bangers and mash for dinner and got lucky to get ANOTHER amazing sunset.

To my mom and dad, I LOVE AND MISS YOU TONS!!!
