Soaking up the Bight

Location: The Bight Bay, BVI

This morning started off pretty normal until we started to smell smoke coming from the galley. Not even a second later, the fire alarm started blaring. We put on our type 5 and went up to the cockpit. It was just French toast being burnt, so we continued getting ready for the day.
Hayden and Lizzy made breakfast for us. Then we had our final group presentation for Oceanography class. The project included explorations on sea urchins, ocean turbidity, and plankton. After the final everyone except Emma, Eva, Erik, and I started on the final steps towards earning their Rescue Diver certification. While they did drills, Eva, Emma, and I were dropped off at the beach. We swam at one of the clearest beaches I have ever seen. We were greeted by turtles. After a quick nap on the beach, we were picked up and taken back to Ocean Star. After lunch, the divers did their final scenario practices where Zoe and Perry were the victims that needed saving. The rest of us worked on our letters to each member of the crew. We officially have a whole bunch of new Rescue Divers!!! We ate a delicious dinner, Egg roll bowls, and got ready for our night dive. Action Quest’s mega dinghy came over and picked us up just as the sun was setting. The dive was beautiful. We spotted squid, tons of rays, and a school of tarpon. We surfaced and climbed back into the dinghies. Emma made cookies for the crew. Nothing like a warm cookie after a chilly dive.

I can’t believe that we are already on Day 38 of this adventure!!
