Sail Day!
Location: Soper’s Hole, West End BVI
We all woke up to today’s skipper (Lilly), letting us know that it’s time for breakfast. We all enjoyed overnight oats, yogurt, and cereal, which became a great start to the day! Then, we were underway, moving back to Sophers Hole. It was great to see the dock again that this whole adventure began at, and to realize how much we all have experienced together since day one. Then we enjoyed one of our new favorite lunches (a pasta salad), prepared by Fin, Iris, and Clara. Afterward, we learned some safety rules and drills, which will keep us safe while sailing. Kellan helped us with our man overboard drill, acting as the pretend victim. Margo tested out the fire hose first, demonstrating to us all how to use it in an emergency. After our drills, we had shore time!
Everyone had a chance to call their parents, shop for food, and relax. Lilly and Chase got ice cream at the store, and Finn, Nate, and Blake were able to stock up on their favorite drinks. Chloe got wings at Pussers, a local restaurant. Cristina also bought some tea. Macy had the smart idea to grab some fresh pineapple slices, and Alex was able to buy a shirt from Arawak. After shore time, we set sail! Kellan, Evan, Jackson, Nate, Blake, and Finn all sweated the main sail, meaning they got the sail up for everyone. Then we all had tacos for dinner, which was great after our busy day. We give a big thanks to Bode, Jackson, and Chloe, all of whom did a great job at washing everyone’s plates after our fantastic first dinner underway! Today was another action-packed adventure, which was our first of many days sailing to Bermuda!
