Birthday Brookies
Location: Underway to Lisbon
Today watch team 3 (Alex, Wilkes, Oona, Ellery, Matt, Declan) and I started our morning dark and early with the 12 to 4 watch where Oona and Ellery did their deck walk and knot exam. Around hour three of our watch, everyone got a little hungry, and Emma and Ellery took the lead and went down to the galley to cook up an oddly delicious snack bowl for the group. The bowl was made up of popcorn, chocolate chips, peanuts, Goldfish, and Frosted Mini Wheats. This is also around the same time we all remembered it was Alex’s birthday and sang her happy birthday. 30 minutes later, Wilkes and I went down to wake up watch team one for the 4-to-8 watch. After watch team 1 relieved us, we all went to bed. Everyone woke up around 11:30 to the smell of tomato soup and grilled cheese. After lunch, we had clean up and then a leadership class with Emma where Noah, Wilkes, and I got to work on our group project. After leadership, the first group of people took the navigation test, and I worked on my knots and deck walk. A little after the end of the test, Oona began making a pesto and was soon joined by Noah, who started baking a brookie for Alex’s birthday.
For Alex’s family note: Hey mom and dad, I miss you lots, but my birthday here was honestly the best birthday I’ve ever had, and I feel so loved and appreciated by everyone here and wouldn’t change a thing. I have made lifelong friends here that I will never forget. Also tell Matan I miss him LOTS. Love you both ;)
Stella’s note: Hi Chase and Lilly and Maci if you guys are reading this..Alex but mostly ME I miss you so much and I love you guys times a mil. Vela is not the same without babb :(
