First Ever Passage Prep

Location: Bali

We are underway! Tonight we set sail (with the motor, not any sails :[ ) on our first passage from Bali to Lombok. This will be around a 15-hour passage, so we’ll wake up off of a new island! Most of the day was spent preparing to leave by stowing tarps, re-organizing dive gear, and inspecting the engine room. Once that was done, we took the dinghy ashore and stocked up on snacks from Balinese convenience stores. The harbor is full of very cute dogs, which we were tragically instructed not to pet.

The actual process of leaving was lengthy, partly because our port anchor had become completely covered in barnacles—shoutout to August, who flaked both anchors and had to endure getting covered in tiny worms.

We ended the day with delicious pumpkin soup made by Nacho and sous chefs, and my squeeze question—“What is the color of the person on your left’s aura?” (We have quite a few oranges on board.) We also had our watch teams announced. I have a feeling Team 2 will be the best.
