The Calm Before the Storm
Location: Underway to Mauritius
Today was a pretty chill day to mark our sixth day on passage. It was also Rachel's 21st birthday! Watch teams 1 and 2 started the day off by raising the flying jib after its remarkable repair by the staff and crew of Argo. For lunch, we had chicken and rice bowls with tzatziki made by our marvelous chefs Lucy, Staff Rachel, Hannah, and Skye; it was delicious! After lunch, we had our Oceanography midterm followed by Leadership class in which we learned about Jen's extremely captivating and inspiring life story. For dinner, we had gnocchi, which is a type of noodle, with pesto and a side of sun-dried tomatoes, which was delicious as well. To follow that, we sang Rachael happy birthday, followed by a tasty cake and s'mores baked by our chefs. The day ended with a beautiful sunset and good vibes all around Argo. Nacho also got mad at me, Wynn, and Miles for being in the Foc'sole faffing around while our watch team was on after dinner. I tried to hide from him but was easily spotted by the keen eagle eye that is atop Nacho's head, but we all had a good laugh about it afterward since Argo did not sink! Overall, spirits are high, and everyone is enjoying the passage but is also pretty eager to get to Mauritius and explore and interact with the community!
