The Art of Slow Sailing

Location: Underway to Bonaire

T-Minus 12 hours till Bonaire!!!!!! Crew morale is insanely high, given some of the special circumstances stated yesterday by Bilge Boy Charlie. However, the past 4 days have been quite the whirlwind of emotion and bravery. One thing I have come to realize is that this passage, our crews lack number skills (specifically the count between 8-31). Regardless, I have been keeping track of a few statistics this voyage:
Helmsonas completed 2 (shoutout Ernest Hemingway and Straight to Helm)
chunder count 3,
dolphins ~50,
squers every 2 hours today,
number of chickpeas consumed 200000,
inches of water in a bilge at any given moment, 3-24,
toes stubbed on d-rings 15 and counting,
And an ever-changing eta.

Our sweet, sweet Sarah was beyond excited to sail, even given the negative wind conditions; we persisted. Throwing up the main + forestaysail in Lake Atlantic conditions. Hoping to catch any sort of forward momentum, Sarah sat still and trimmed away at the sails all. day. long. The second we picked up any sort of wind and threw all the sails up, she was happily tucked into bed. We were flying (8 whole knots) just to get paused by our dear Captain Nick; we were moving far too fast, believe it or not. The next hour was spent by us throwing in docklines behind the boat to slow us down and add a few extra digits to our already daunting eta. Thus teaching us, The Art of Slow Sailing. Spending the next 24 hours ensuring we kept our arrival late at night to Bonaire taught us this crazy thing called patience. Swells growing and rain dumping didnt stop the young men and women of Argo from having a fantastic last day underway. We stayed busy all day playing Dad Rock and eating enough shepherd's pie to kill a small child. Spending the rest of the night dreaming of showering without smashing into the walls. Pulling up to Bonaire shortly!!!!!! See you guys on the flip.
