Waya Tim Chudley Argo XIII

Location: Waya Island, Fiji

As the day began, I knew I was in for a special one. I was awoken at 7 to the words, "Go upstairs, Sadie has a bird." Now, in my confused and lightly delirious state, I expected to see a cute little bird standing on a random mast of the ship, or maybe just a crewmate pulling a harmless little prank. To my surprise, I walked upstairs to see Sadie holding an actual bird in her hands. We decided to name the bird after the island we are docked at—Waya. Sidebar: this island is genuinely the most gorgeous place I have ever seen, like it is straight out of Lord of the Rings or something. Anyways, we ate granola, yogurt, blueberry compote, and rice crispies for breakfast. After breakfast, the advanced open water students and I got ready to do our 4th dive, navigation. On the dive I was partnered with Noelle and we passed our navigation,
which means we are one dive away from being certified!! After the dive, I came back to the boat expecting to see Waya gone, but he was just chilling on the deck. Lunch was super yummy mashed potatoes, sausages, Tofu, and beans (shoutout Jen for our very British meal, 'bangers & mash'). After lunch, we were chilling on deck with Waya and trying (and failing) to feed him some of our canned tuna rations. Now for what I thought was the most exciting part of the day, the rescue scenario. Luckily for me, I got to play a panicked diver whose mom (Emma) was underwater and siblings (Jaden and Rhianna) were assisting in creating the chaos. The rescue students knew to expect a scenario, but what they didn't know is that they would have three screaming people with the goal of wreaking as much havoc as possible. While the scenario wasn't the most successful, I had lots of fun screaming at the top of my lungs. Tragically though, I lost my buff and two of my crewmates lost their goggles (rip). Just when the rescue students thought they were free of the water, everyone came running downstairs screaming about our instructor Jack being "unconscious" in the water. Thankfully, this one went a good bit better than the last one. For dinner we had lentil curry, rice, and homemade naan—again baked by the one and only Jen. For squeeze, I asked, "Would you rather have all of your thoughts broadcast or not be able to communicate at all?" The overwhelming answer was having thoughts broadcast, which honestly kind of surprised me. Anyways, not totally sure what happened to Waya Tim Chudley Argo XIII, but I'm sure you'll hear about that tomorrow. Goodnight y'all, and love you, Mom and Dad!!
