The Nest is Wet
Location: Pacific
Even though I have managed to have some of the best sleep I have ever had pn Argo, it was a great surprise to wake up to the sound of wind and waves hitting up against the bow of the ship. I definitely spent a good ten minutes contemplating my plan on how I am going to get to the bathroom through a watertight door and actually get ready with the ship rocking. Doing so is never an easy feat however, I managed to get it done in time to wake everyone up for lunch. Today might have been one of the only times I wished I managed to stay awake longer given that we managed to cross the equator late last night instead of in the middle of the day like I had thought. I had a 12:00 to 4:00 am watch so I had just missed it! Watch was about as fun as it usally is…...which is a lot. I was watch team leader today so I got to give the briefings to the next group and also help out managing when boat checks are supposed to happen. I was a little scared to be in charge at first but I had fun being out of my comfort zone a bit.
Anyways, back to lunch. For lunch Shane and his sous chefs, Everett and Ella made breakfast. We managed to be able to eat outside during a little break in the rain. it was all going well until I ended up with damp scrambled eggs when a rain cloud decided to make an early appearance. After lunch it was time for a quick nap and seamanship class. I was worried about the hatches in the starboard sixstack leaking all afternoon. Let’s just say the foc’sle got a few drops that managed to slip through the cracks. Luckily my room seemed to be in pretty good order.
In seamanship class, we went over proper marine communications which was really interesting. For dinner we had curry with one of my favorite things to eat on Argo, Naan. Shane made a really good curry and the Naan was amazing as usual. We did not have time to do our squeeze question after dinner before the rain started, so we are doing it after clean up, which is about right now. Goodnight Everyone!
Also, to my mom and my brother, I love you and miss you and I can't wait to catch up when I get to Palau!
