Real Ones Know
Location: Underway to Elba
What's up, guys, it's Damian.
This morning was eventful, consisting of learning some boat skills like optimally easing the lines and how to cable-coil the excess rope. Soon after these skills were thoroughly ingrained in all our heads, we went snorkeling in a cove near the port. We have a fish ID log project for our marine bio class, so we captured videos of some of the fish we saw to try to identify them later. After we all got back from snorkeling, we were boarded by French customs, and they searched the boat. (All good; we passed!). We left the port soon after noon, and it was a comparatively uneventful exit except for a drone crash. We are currently 7 hours into a 20-hour passage to Elba, and boy does the boat rock while we are at sea. I've been told this is nothing, so I'm hoping that I'll be adapted to the rocking by the time it gets rougher. I have fallen over, stubbed my toe, or hurt myself in some small way a minimum of 4 times a day so far. On the bright side, I'm going to have the most fortified toes of all time when it's all said and done. As the skipper, I get to choose what action everybody has to take to get released from dinner. I chose partnering up and both partners getting ballerina spun. Safe to say I thoroughly enjoyed watching Mac get ballerina spun around the stern of the ship. (Look at me using boat words). We ended the day singing happy birthday to Kaylin and having a slice of cake. It was a good day.
