HIKING HIKING HIKING
Location: Palma, Mallorca
Helllloooooo from Vela. TODAY WAS AWESOME! It started early for those of us with anchor watch. Mali and I had the 3-4. After that, we went back for a quick nap and woke up again at 5:45. The morning started with some overnight oats, and copious amounts of Nutella chewed up by Zane, Stella, and Yuval. We then loaded up Angkaron and headed to the beach. From there, we caught the bus, got lost along the way, but eventually found the bus stop and headed up to the trailhead. THIS TRAIL WAS MAGNIFICENT. We went uphill for quite some time and then found ourselves along this ridge line that was filled with cliffs and views of the ocean. Then we had spaghetti for lunch; some opted to eat some of the extra SOS food instead. We had a tupperware shortage, leading to people eating like dogs off the lids, as existed by Clara. We hiked 8.5 miles in total, and could see Solier at the top, where we were anchored a few days ago.
Meanwhile, Tom, Annika, and Dan were practicing their cannonballs and backflips on the boat. Tom apparently desperately needs to go to Annika’s cannonball school… Then we explored this small town at the base of the hike. THIS TOWN WAS ADORABLE. In typical fashion, we got gelato and explored the shops. We also found some pastries, and found these potato buns where they originated. We then loaded back onto the bus, all 29 of us, and headed back towards Palma. We then were running around and speed walking through Palma to get back for dinner. When we got back to the beach and were waiting for Angkaron to pick us back up, some of us decided to end the day with a dip in the ocean. Others also played hacky sack and enjoyed the view. We then all re-collected on the boat for pizza for dinner made by Dan and Annika. We enjoyed dinner as the sun set and are now getting ready for ocean showers and studying for our oceanography exam.
