Best! Day! Ever!!
Day 47 has finally come, and let me tell you, it was a great day! Let’s start with the obvious... HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!! Anyways, going into today, I wasn’t exactly sure what I was going to write tonight, but man, was I in for some treats to write about! This morning I woke up bright and early at 7:30 am to prepare for our amazing 8-12 watch! Right when I walked out of the accommodation area, the salon seemed to have been taken over by some DANGER tape‼️ And to my surprise, there was also a Lobster(Owen) standing in the salon. During watch, we listened to a good amount of music and obviously got some good sing-along time in there. Which is the best part of the 8-12 watch, in my opinion. Also, Watch Team Three said there was a beautiful sunrise during their watch, so that’s pretty fun. During our watch this morning, Kaylin brought up some face paint and painted Sam’s, Yuval’s, and her face to be like a skeleton!💀After all the fun parts of watch, a couple of us (Lexi, Yuval/Sam, me) went down to the heads and re-oiled the wood on the cabinets and doors. Definitely not the funniest job, but the wood did look really nice after!! We went back on deck after and had some more fun singing and talking with each other. Then I went and changed into some pirate-looking outfit along with a good number of others! 🏴☠️After a bit, the chefs got our food up on deck for lunch, and we enjoyed a bagel bar! Shout out to Clara, Lexi, and Owen because they handmade the bagels! Mac also told us he had a little surprise today, so stay tuned for that!! After lunch, we all cleaned up and got ready for our classes. As we were sitting down below, waiting patiently for oceanography to start, we heard a loud horn coming from on deck!! Turns out they were also yelling MAN OVERBOARD! (Don’t worry, it was just a drill) So, saying that, we all rushed to get our pfd’s and got on deck to the cockpit to make sure everyone was there. Then proceeded with our drill and did what each watch team would do in case of a real MOB. I am on watch team one, so we prepared the rescue diver (Annika) and got all the ropes ready to pull her and the victim up on deck. I’d say we did pretty well because we got both Annika and the fender (Gerry) back on deck. When we finished the drill, Mac gave us a quick talk on how we did overall, then told us to clean up and rinse off the lines. After we started doing that, he also decided to make an announcement that was the highlight of everybody’s day……
“SWIM CALL!!”
Not gonna lie, we were all a bit confused at first, but it was the most exciting thing of the day! So basically Mac was telling us that we get to swim in 10,000 ft of water with no land in sight!!!! We were all so excited, so we rushed down to put our bathing suits on and grab our shower stuff. We all got on deck and decided to jump in together. So we all took the leap and jumped into the big blue ocean! We had so much fun taking pictures, trying to climb up the boat onto the deck, doing flips, and just vibing! The staff even joined us until tragedy struck and Kaylin got stung by a jellyfish.🪼 So not the best thing in the world, but she is surviving! After we all finished swimming and showing, we went down for our two classes of the day. Oceanography was up first and then Leadership. Today Baxter, Griffin, and Wyatt presented in leadership class. Then we had a small bit of study hall time where people just used their time how they felt fit for them. The chefs prepared dinner, and then it was served. We had basically Taco bowls or burritos for some people. It was pretty good, so props to Zoe, Clara, and Owen once again. After dinner, we did a squeeze where my question was, “What is the earliest Halloween costume you remember?” Answers were honestly so fun to hear!! 🌶️we cleaned up and now I am on watch and others are getting ready for bed or ready for watch. Talk of a costume contest was also on the air, but no clue if that actually happened. UPDATE: it did happen, and the winner was….. OWEN!!!!!!!!!!🎉🎊
Anyways, I’m gonna turn in for the night!! And on a positive note, even though lots of us are getting FOMO from missing out on Halloween back at home, we had a once-in-a-lifetime day that so many people would die for!! So very grateful, and it was definitely a great passage day!! 💕
Some costumes today were… Sedona and Baxter switched, minions! ( Corinne, Mali, Kenzie), Pirates! ( Clara, Callie, Sophie, Tilly, Makayla, Stella, and I), Skeltons ( Yuval, Kaylin, Sam), Barbecue Dad(Caitlyn), lobster(Owen), Mac(Lexi), and Mermaid(Hollis)
Love you, Mom, Dad, Noah, Dawson, and Tavyn!!!
Also, happy early anniversary, Mom and Dad
XOXO, SAMANTHA
