Superman’s Flight
Location: Under the Pitons, St. Lucia
Oh, dear reader!!!!!! It’s our time again. Make yourself a hot chocolate, settle by the fire, and prepare for another day of wondrous storytelling from yours truly. This morning was a perfect morning. Until the grating blaring sounds of the fire alarm went off at 6:30. Everyone mustered on deck quickly, to our discovery of a slightly Smokey galley from a hot pan (everything was fine and nothing was on fire, just a lot of smoke). We all settled back down to sleep for another 30minutes before we awoke to the sounds of Otis Redding once again. What a voice, dear reader. Oh, to hear him live would be a dream!!!. A delightful breakfast was enjoyed, dear reader, let me tell you so! Huevos Rancheros. Scrumptious! Post breakfast, we gathered ourselves on deck to ready our kits and ourselves to dive on the local dive site named Superman’s flight, named after a point at which Superman flew up the Pitons to save “insert name here” (dear reader, I’m not a DC fan). Now, let me tell you, dear reader, this dive was incredible!!!!! This wall was massive and stunning, so much color and life, it was breathtaking.
A very enjoyable drift dive, and what a place to dive, I shall tell you, dear reader. Right under the Pitons is something special. After our dive, we swiftly progressed into an afternoon of EFR Training! Emergency first response training is the first step toward the rescue diver certification. Learning CPR and first aid training. We moved into a lovely lunch of chicken tacos and continued on with our EFR training, where yours truly acted as the victim for all casualties. The students broke up into rotational groups to learn practical skills and then undertook their exams. This took us all the way to dinner, in which we gorged ourselves on tikka masala. Along the journey of dinner, the much-anticipated smoothie man showed, bearing terrible, earth-shattering news… his blender had broken. NOOOOOO. Alas, he told us he shall return tomorrow with a new blender. All rejoice!!!! After dinner, Hannah K, Erin, Reed, and I all went on a night dive along the reef. And what a beautiful dive it was. Amazing, Dear Reader. Anywho, I hope your hot chocolate was delightful, and the fire is dwindling, but for now, I say farewell until we meet again, dear reader. As always, yours truly.
