Racing!

Location: Antigua

Hello everyone!
Perry here, and I am writing my final blog of the spring 2026 semester! It has been such an amazing semester in so many ways, but nothing brings a group together like a common goal. The common goal of the week is winning the Antigua Classics Regatta. So far, we have been cruising, winning our class both yesterday and today! Today started out a little rougher than yesterday, with some emergency equipment repairs and replacements, but all the sails were up and ready when we crossed the start line. We had some favorable wind today, and before we knew it, Vela was flying towards our first mark. We had a little bit of rain and some strong winds, but we made it around all of our markers. We continued the race with tons of sail handling and energy, finishing in around 2 and a half hours! We tacked a lot more today with the different course, but nothing Vela couldn’t handle. After we got back on the dock, we put the boat “to bed” and had some nice pancakes for dinner! We still have a job to finish tomorrow, but so far the regatta has been full of fun and surprises.

Thanks for Reading!
